When a broadcast owner, such as a school district or university, wants to sell its media properties, PRC provides both national perspective and local expertise to explore options and find beneficial solutions to the license owner and community.
The sales process generally starts with a valuation to determine the value of the station license. PRC structures a Request for Proposal (RFP) to outline the assets being sold and any conditions of sale and manages the RFP process. PRC works with the client to evaluate the offers received, negotiates the terms of the sale and asset purchase agreement, and any interim programming agreements.
Factors to consider when contemplating a sale:
- Public service focus of buyer
- Listener reaction to the sale of a community asset
- Continuation of current programming
- Promotion, training or other educational links
